It was a day that I had lunch with Gilyn and Yan Qing at Long John Silver or I like to call it Long John Shiny after what I saw today. The reason that silver is replaced with the word Shiny is because after you have their oily food they serve you, the plate the food was served on will be shiny – a layer of grease very visible on it. After that horrifying lunch, it was back to office to carry on the rest of the day. Met Mel at his place after work to finish up the narration and dialogues for pages 7 and 8 of the comic. It was easier than expected, especially with Mel giving some suggestions. It’s back to school tomorrow for the very first lesson of the semester…
Gian Png Hospital and iPhone propaganda…
•January 4, 2010 • Leave a CommentWhat is seriously wrong with National University Hospital (NUH)? I have submitted the letter from my reservist camp’s medical centre to allow me a free consultation at their compound. Now they are billing me $90 for the consultation fees incurred. That is so ridiculous. I have submitted the relevant documents and if it was a mistake on the part of your own staff, you should look into the problem and not asking me to pay for something which I am not required to pay. I am never paying, that’s for sure. Never! haha.
Observed something today at the mall which makes me more determined not to succumb to the supposed iPhone trend which I like to call iPhone propaganda. Two very extreme situations at the shops of two different telecommunication operators. At Singtel shop, there was a long queue directly in front of the iPhone poster. Everybody was queuing up to get a new set in that particular queue. Over at rival operator Starhub, there was no queue but a poster that reads: Dear customers, iPhone is currently out of stock due to overwhelming response… What has the world become with this iPhone fanaticism spreading around the country in a single month faster than what H1N1 did in almost a year. Not even SARS back in 2003 spread as swiftly as this. I won’t be surprised that one year down the road, government polling is done using an iPhone app as everybody have a iPhone by then. That’s it. I’m never getting a iPhone, not even if the day iPhone polling is introduced comes. They can have iPhone 3G, iPhone 3Gs or iPhone whatever. I am not buying it!
After being totally disgusted by the above mentioned happenings, I went home to try to finish up some stuff for the comic project. Back to work tomorrow and back to school on Wednesday… Sianz… haha. Can I not start school?
Anti-tankers dinner!
•January 3, 2010 • Leave a CommentA Sunday like today can never be considered as laid-back. First, it was off to the food centre for brunch. After which, it was off to City Hall station to meet Ansley and Mel. The progress for today’s work was by far the most compared to all the work done over the last fortnight. We had the manual work done for almost half of the book and what is left is the content of the wording for the remaining portion and also the inking and toning of the artwork using the computer. Progress is good at the moment. After stopping at 6pm, Ansley left with Mel to go Far East Shopping Centre while I met my fellow anti-tankers at City Hall station for a platoon dinner. It was much fun and with Clive and Kok Wei around, there is bound to be a lot of fun with their constant jokes. After dinner at Shokudo, the group chilled at J. CO having some coffee and donuts, carrying on the talk about life in the army and stuff like that. Headed home after… Back to work tomorrow with school starting in 2 day’s time…
NIKE FACTORY OUTLET @ WEST COAST PLAZA!!!
•January 2, 2010 • 4 CommentsThere was nothing much to do today and in order to avoid the ever irritating Christopher Yao, I have decided to meet my parents for dinner at West Coast after knocking off. Christopher was still as irritating as he used to be during BMT. He was always the guy the commanders like to picked on due to his actions, which were so irritating. He now sells insurance and has been ringing me on 2 or 3 days interval over the past fortnight. I have no interest in it and out of courtesy not to reject him in the face, I gave ambiguous answers. That was the biggest mistake. His calls are still coming in every now and then asking for time to meet up to discuss some insurance and saving plan. After work today, the guys wanted to have lunch together and so we went to Subway at Novena Square. After finishing my Subway Melt set meal, everybody went separate ways with me walking with Lester. I was taking a bus from the bus stop near his place and we talked about the near future for each of us en route. It was nice to know that most of us have a lot of aspirations for the future. Anyway, after a one hour bus trip, I was finally at West Coast Road. Walked around at the Nike Factory Outlet at West Coast Plaza and mind it was good. I was at the Adidas Factory outlet at Novena just less than 2 hours ago and found nothing of my liking and over here, I found quite a lot of stuff. Made some purchases of cool T-shirts and polo tees before leaving. Back to business tomorrow and a platoon outing with my mates from army tomorrow evening…
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010!
•January 1, 2010 • Leave a CommentIt’s the new year! After having the last steamboat of the year yesterday, it was the first steamboat of the year today. Instead of Tian Tian at Bugis, the place I went yesterday with my good friends from work, it was at Beach Rd at a place called Korean BBQ with my secondary school friends. The food was pretty good and I ate more than what I had for yesterday. haha. We totally enjoyed ourselves. After a great movie in the afternoon, one which I initially thought was going to suck, we had a really great time eating. haha. We were also talking about organising a session at K-suites very soon. The packages they offer are not that expensive as I thought. haha. Shall organise for the group of good friends from work and another for the secondary school friends. Back to work tomorrow…
THE LAST DAY OF 2009!
•December 31, 2009 • Leave a CommentIt is finally new year eve, the last day of the year 2009. It has been a really topsy-turvy year and it is time to do some reflections. The year 2009, depressing at times, was on the whole a year that passed by very quickly with a lot of highs and lows for myself and the people around me. Academically, I started school with an entirely new group of people but I was able to meet some really nice people. I was able to complete my projects due for submission on time and able to do well for my papers except those in the second semester. At work, I was losing quite a lot of steam towards the end of the year and was feeling quite jaded at work. Nonetheless, the whole year was ok only with some very minor emotional tussles that I got through unscathed and fighting strong. Anyway, after the New Year Eve Steamboat, the group settled down at TCC and talk some serious issues about the future and some parts of the very near future…
Confirmation and acknowledgement needed…
•December 30, 2009 • Leave a CommentTrying to organise a new year eve get-together is so difficult. The initial stage of getting confirmation for attendance is already such a chore. Luckily this time round, all who were invited replied early on time to indicate their attendance. The venue confirmation was another chore. I did the initial intake of suggestion and the voting later in view that I want everybody to be happy with their food for the day. Everything will be smooth tomorrow I hope…..
Not Winning Eleven…
•December 29, 2009 • 2 CommentsAfter a great start to the evening with just one defeat, things went berserk with 5 goals conceded in two games with no reply. That was Winning Eleven for today and obviously I wasn’t in good form towards the end. My defense back line was rock solid but as it turned out, I was not up to it in the later part of the evening. Planning the new year eve meet up was such a chore. Trying to contact more people and hopefully get a reply too…
Being happy no matter what…
•December 28, 2009 • 2 CommentsIt is easier said than done. Being happy no matter what. Many people are waiting for that one thing to be the highlight of their life and they will only be happy when that thing happens or comes true. They have chosen to be unhappy till whatever they look forward to happens. In actual fact, everybody should choose to be happy no matter what happens in life. Be thankful for whatever you have in life and not grumble till life change for the better. No matter how life is, be happy with it that you have such a life. Once you are happy with things, everything will start to change. It is the universal golden rule – you attract objects similar to yourself. If you’re happy, you attract happy things. Likewise for being unhappy. Anyway, news has spread that I have spent Christmas Eve with just Gilyn and her friends and people are saying that we may have a status already. I have to say, people, you guys think too much. Especially you Weini. haha. You really think too much le. haha. I guess that what was going through Clarissa’s and the other 2 girls mind on Christmas Eve I guess. I am lazy to explain and you guys can go on and think in whatever way you guys want…
Recovery Sunday…
•December 27, 2009 • Leave a CommentIt was a Sunday I stayed home to recover from the fatigue of Christmas celebration, waking up at 11am. The whole day was basically spent resting. It has been a really tiring weekend and I needed some time to recover from the high energy consumptive activities I have done during this Christmas weekend. Did nothing much today except lazing around. haha. Back to work tomorrow again and looking to prepare to organise a gathering for New Year Eve…
